'You engaged with me in such a non-judgemental, genuine and compassionate way.'
I am a qualified and BACP accredited person-centred, integrative counsellor and CBT therapist. I have my own private practice in Bath and Saltford near Bristol. I am experienced in a wide range of needs including anxiety, depression and stress. Until recently I worked in the NHS IAPT service in South Gloucestershire.
I offer short term, long term and ad hoc one-to-one counselling and provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space for exploration, reflection and understanding of yourself, your emotions and the meaning of your life and your relationships with others. I can offer comfort, support and hope for the future. We work together at your pace on the issues that you bring to help connect with your inner resources, find choices in your life and promote your ability to make the changes you want to make. I can also help you to challenge and manage any negative feelings or behaviours that are impacting on your ability to enjoy life.
As a Samaritan I gained experience in supporting people who are in crisis and suicidal. In my long term work I help people manage long standing depression and anxiety and I support people through life transitions and difficult life events and changes such as divorce, mid- life crisis, menopause, redundancy, unemployment and chronic illness including ME and Fibromyalgia. In my short term work I use my training in Brief Solutions Focussed Therapy and CBT to help people with a broad range of presenting issues including Depression, Anger, Stress and Relationship issues.
The most important elements that I have on offer in my counselling room are hope, congruence and a real interpersonal relationship. I use my personal qualities of endurance, determination, patience and courage in my work to enable others and engender humility and trust and to motivate change and help people turn their lives around.
I believe is a holistic approach. As such I also hold a certificate in Kinesiology and am able to prescribe nutritional supplements to go alongside your emotional wellbeing. Stress, Anxiety, Fear and Trauma can be held in the body and in the muscles, for example the Psoas can be the seat of trauma and fear and can cause issues throughout he body especially in the lower back. Kinesiology is a method of muscle testing to identify if nutrient supplementation will be helpful for the muscle and the circuit it is part of.
My hobbies include yoga, gardening, reading and above all my friends and family.
Please feel free to contact me if you need any more information about me or about the talking therapies that I can offer you. It can be difficult to understand the different approaches and therapies and I offer an initial assessment to help you choose the right one for you.
